Introduction

In this latest blog of mine, I shall hand over great new tips and tricks for the future bloggers. But, before we begin, let us understand what a blog is. According to WikiPedia, a blog is-

"A blog (a truncation of the expression weblogis a discussion or informational site published on the World Wide Web consisting of discrete entries ("posts") typically displayed in reverse chronological order (the most recent post appears first). Until 2009, blogs were usually the work of a single individual, occasionally of a small group, and often covered a single subject. More recently, "multi-author blogs" (MABs) have developed, with posts written by large numbers of authors and professionally edited."

This means that as of now, blogs are webpages that are run by an individual or a small group that cover a very specific niche.

Usually, I recommend people to start a blog having 10 posts in the initial stage. Later on, as their audience increases, I ask them to focus about writing more specific content that caters to their audience and fits in with the current trends.

I have found out that most of the people think that they can never start a blog successfully. The most common reasons I come across are:- I might not be able to write good, I don't have lots of time for blogging, I don't know anything about blogging.

Well, to these reasons I have just one answer, how can you predict that you might not be successful without even giving it a try. Blogging does not require much time, half an hour every alternate day is more than enough. You can keep your Sunday (or for that matter, any day you like) reserved. This means that on this particular day every week, you shall not write a new post, but try to socialise with your audience. give answers to a few comments. Help someone with their query, or try to spread the word about your blog (through FaceBook, Emails etc.)

Do's:-

  • Select a niche(topic) that you are familiar with.
  • Think about what all you can write on that topic.
  • Think of how you are going to build your brand in the long run.
  • Decide how your reader shall be able to contact you if they have a query.
  • Start your blog with an introduction, this would help the newer visitors.
  • If you are going to use paid hosts for you website, be clear about how you can monetize yourself.
  • Be very precise and to the point.
  • Be sure to read your own blog twice at least to avoid typo's.
Dont's:-
  • Don't select a very-very narrowed niche, otherwise you may run out of things to write about.
  • Never ignore someone's query (the person may mention your unhelpful behaviour in the comments section, this in turn may drive-off a larger crowd)
  • Never leave your blog unattended for more than a week.
  • Never crowd your blog with too many ad's. Keep it simple and organised.
  • Don't overload the viewers with too much information.
  • Avoid poor grammar or poor spellings, this gives a very bad image.
  • Avoid copying directly from someone else's blog/website. You shall loose many valued readers if caught.

With these points engraved straight into the mind, I'm sure anyone will be able to start a blog successfully. These were some easy tips to follow. If you follow the do's consistently, you shall receive a great boost at the beginning of your blog. However, to keep your blog running, you shall have to engrave the dont's into your minds.

HomeWork:-

Yes, you got me correct, 'homework', if you are serious about blogging and have decided to turn this into your passion, or maybe hobby, then you ought to put in some extra effort to earn some extra. Your homework for today is you have to decide a niche(topic) that you are going to start your blog on. Do some thorough research before finalising the topic, also take a very cool-headed decision.

Also, if you have face any difficulty regarding this topic, feel free to contact me through the comments section. Or you can also contact me through the 'Contact Me' form at the end of this page.
